’54 to go’ Gronkie injures shoulder ‘3000K out of reach?

With his Hall of Fame induction virtually assured, will Zack Greinke (40, Kansas City Royals) eventually falter at the 3,000-strikeout threshold?

Kansas City announced on Saturday that it was placing Greinke on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury. He’s expected to miss about two weeks.

Greinke previously suffered the shoulder injury in his last start against the Minnesota Twins on May 5, giving up six runs in 5 1/3 innings.

His record this season has been abysmal. In 18 games, he is 1-9 with a 5.44 ERA. In 92 2/3 innings, he has only 64 strikeouts.

This has put the brakes on Greinke’s ultimate goal of 3000 strikeouts. He currently has 2,946 strikeouts, or 54 away from 3,000.

Greinke has struck out nearly 3.6 batters per game this season. He needs 15 games to add 54 more strikeouts. That’s why this injury is so devastating.카지노

Greinke, a 20-year major leaguer, returned to his hometown team Kansas City last year and is under contract through this season. Based on his current performance, he may not get another chance.

With a Cy Young Award, 200 wins, 3,000 innings pitched, and many other accomplishments, it will be interesting to see if Greinke can retire after reaching 3,000 strikeouts.
