After ‘home debut nightmare’, Kim Yoo-seong returns to the first team after 22 days…”Good pitching evaluation, use as bullpen”

Doosan Bears pitcher Kim Yoo-seong, who suffered a “home debut nightmare,” has returned to the first team after 22 days. Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop said he will utilize Kim in a bullpen role for the time being.

Doosan made the decision to shake up its first-team roster on May 27 against the SSG Landers in Jamsil. Pitchers Lee Byung-heon and Kim Ho-joon were designated for assignment and pitchers Kim Yoo-seong and Choi Ji-kang were added.

Kim first appeared on the roster on April 27 and made two appearances before being sent back to the second team. He made his home debut on May 4 in relief against the Jamsil Hanwha Eagles. However, Kim struggled mightily that day, giving up five runs on three hits (two homers) and five walks in one inning. Doosan eventually released Kim the next day.

Kim was sent down to the second team and made two Futures League starts. On May 13 against the LG Twins, he allowed one run on six hits and four walks in 4.2 innings, and on May 20 against the Lotte Giants, he allowed four runs on six hits (one home run) in 5.1 innings.

Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop commented on the changes to the first-team roster, saying, “We decided that Lee Byung-heon needed time to refine his pitches. Kim Ho-joon also had a short stint in the first team, so he needs to prepare again in the second team. Kim Yoo-sung had a good evaluation of his pitches in the second team. We’re planning to utilize him in the bullpen for the time being, as we’ve been running out of mounds lately and don’t have a spot in the starting lineup.”

Outfielder Kim Dae-hyun, who recovered from a fracture, also started accompanying the first team on the 27th. Lee said, “Kim Dae-hyun started training with the first team today. We didn’t have a weekend Futures League game scheduled, so we wanted to monitor his physical condition first. He looked fine in training today, but we’ll decide when to enroll him based on his future condition.”메이저사이트

Meanwhile, Doosan is also preparing for the return of homegrown ace Kwak Bin. He is scheduled to take the mound against SSG in Jamsil on the 28th, but if the game on the 27th is rained out, his appearance will be postponed.

Lee said, “Kwak-bin is scheduled to start tomorrow (28th). If the game is canceled today (27th), Choi Won-jun will take the mound tomorrow, and Kwak Bin’s start will be postponed to next Wednesday (31st) against Changwon NC. If tomorrow’s game is also canceled, we will consider adjusting the starting lineup again,” he said.
