Paulo Bento, former coach of the Korean national football team, expressed his opinion on the departure of his home country player, Cristiano Ronaldo, to Saudi Arabia.
On the 14th (Korean time), Bento appeared on the Portuguese broadcaster RTP program ‘Grande Ahea’ and commented on Ronaldo’s current situation 먹튀검증. He believed that going to Saudi Arabia was a completely justified choice and that the Portuguese national team would no longer depend on Ronaldo’s talent.
Previously, Ronaldo signed a contract with Saudi professional club Al Nasr until 2025. For two years and six months, he receives an astronomical salary of 200 million euros (approximately 268.3 billion won).
“From my point of view, it is a completely justified choice,” Bento said. “The financial aspect is often taken into account when making these decisions. It is just like any other case of going to Qatar, China or the United States.”
He added: “It may not be the case for Ronaldo, but it seems clear that Portugal is a team that is by no means dependent on Ronaldo’s talent and ability, as they have been in other competitions in which the previous generation has participated.” It is a euphemistic expression of the expectation that Portugal has been somewhat dependent on Ronaldo, and that it will not be anymore.
Bento coached the Portugal national team for four years from 2010 to 2014 and worked with Ronaldo. He led the team to the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2012, but failed to lead his country to the round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.
He said, “The end is always painful.
Meanwhile, Bento, who took the helm of the Korean national team in 2018 and succeeded in advancing to the round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, is taking a break back to Portugal without renewing the contract.
