Haesung Kim, Sysvid colleague, on ML trade market: “It will be a hot commodity”

Is Kim’s Cy Young Award teammate leaving via trade?

With the Major League Baseball trade deadline just around the corner, the San Diego Padres are getting a lot of attention.

The Padres started off strong this year with hopes of winning the World Series, but they are currently in fourth place in the National League West with a 44-48 record (.478 winning percentage). They’re nine games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers, so even a postseason berth doesn’t seem likely.

That’s why there’s a lot of speculation that San Diego will be a “seller” at the trade deadline.

MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, took the time to list the top 10 “emerging trade candidates” on Friday.

San Diego’s left-handed ace Snell’s name appeared on the list. Snell won the American League Cy Young Award in 2018 after going 21-5 with a 1.89 ERA with the Tampa Bay Rays. Snell, who has been with San Diego since 2021, has been on fire this year, going 6-7 with a 2.71 ERA.

According to MLB.com, “Snell has been the best pitcher in baseball since allowing six runs in four innings against the Boston Red Sox on May 20, going 5-1 with a 0.68 ERA in his last nine starts. Snell, who is making $16 million this season in the final year of a five-year, $50 million contract, has allowed just four runs in 53 innings over that span while striking out 84 batters for a .155 batting average and .458 OPS.” The article noted Snell’s recent hot streak.온라인바카

In the end, it’s up to San Diego. If the Padres don’t pull off a late-season turnaround, they’ll naturally be a “seller.

“San Diego could go either way at the trade deadline, but if the Padres are sellers, Snell will be a hot commodity,” said MLB.com.

His velocity has been very good lately. After allowing one hit and striking out 11 over six innings against the New York Mets on April 9, he followed that up with five innings of three-hit ball and seven strikeouts in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 16. There is already speculation that several players could be traded if the Padres position themselves as “sellers”. It will be interesting to see how many teammates Kim will part ways with.
