“Is there a player greater than the team?” His name is Shohei Otani.

Shohei Ohtani, 29, who is out for the season with an oblique injury, reminded the Los Angeles Angels that they may have a player bigger than the team this season.

The Angels announced on Sunday that Ohtani has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique injury and is out for the season.

Ohtani, who had already clinched his second American League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, finished the season with a stunning two-hit performance.

Although he did not reach the required number of innings pitched, he led the team in wins, ERA (over 100 innings pitched), and strikeouts.

As a pitcher, Ohtani pitched 132 innings in 23 games this season, posting a 10-5 record and a 3.14 ERA. He struck out 167 batters. First on the team in wins, ERA, and strikeouts.

Reed Dettmers trails Ohtani in the strikeout category by 13 with 154 through 18 days, but it’s hard to overtake him.

He has also been dominant at the plate. Ohtani leads the team in batting average, home runs, RBIs, runs scored, hits, slugging percentage, and OPS among hitters with regular plate appearances.스포츠토토

Before his injury, Ohtani was batting .304 with 44 home runs, 95 RBI, 102 runs scored, 151 hits, a .412 OPS and a 1.066 slugging percentage in 135 games as a designated hitter.

Although he failed to surpass his single-season home run record of 46, his performance at the plate alone was enough to earn him the MVP award.

Now, Ohtani will begin his search for a new team in free agency after this season, and he’ll have to decide whether or not to have elbow surgery.
