‘Multi-hit + 3-RBI performance’ Ohtani extends 7-game hitting streak to 3-for-3 in AL…LAA stuck in 2-game losing streak

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’s Shohei Ohtani (29) has moved into third place in the American League in batting average with a multi-hit performance.

Ohtani started in the No. 2 spot in the lineup and went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and a walk against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday (March 3) at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Ohtani led off the top of the first inning with a walk and was hit by an 85.8-mile-per-hour (138.1-kilometer) splitter on a seven-pitch fastball from Atlanta starter Yoenis Chirinos. But C.J. Cron popped out to end the inning without a run.

Ohtani led off the fourth inning with a single, but his bat went wide on a four-pitch 86.6 mph (139.4 km/h) splitter from Chirinos. With one out in the sixth, he took a 91.1-mph (146.6-kilometer) sinker from Chirinos to put runners on first and third with no outs. Cron then drew a walk to load the bases and scored on Hunter Renfroe’s RBI single and Eduardo Escobar’s RBI triple to score Ohtani.

Leading off the eighth inning, Ohtani drew a walk off reliever Kirby Yates to load the bases. However, there was no follow-up hit. In the final at-bat of the ninth, Ohtani would not get another at-bat.

With his multi-hit performance, Ohtani extended his hitting streak to seven games. His season batting average increased slightly to .401 (123-for-401). He’s now third in the American League in batting average.

Despite Ohtani’s performance, the Angels fell to 5-12. They have lost two straight. Rookie starter Lucas Giolito took the loss in his second start since being acquired, allowing nine runs on eight hits (three homers) and three walks with two strikeouts in 3⅔ innings. Outside of Ohtani, no one else in the lineup had a multi-hit game.카지노
